Fireworks by Marianne Girard

Marianne and Allan were relaxing at home on Canada Day last July when Marianne composed this lilting, open tuning piece. When they recorded it for reference, the traditional Canada Day fireworks were lighting up the sky and they can be heard here on the recording, seemingly synchronized with the performance and suggesting the title, Fireworks. Girard uses an open C tuning with the bass string tuned way down to an A. Her 1963 rosewood D-50 Guild might be the only guitar that can hold such a low tuning.
